Girls Waterpolo Team Wins Silver
Inspired by former member and guard Devon Diggle, who is playing waterpolo for Canada at the Olympic Games in China this week, ECC girls battled hard for NAA Championship titles at Briarwood Pool this weekend.
The 14-and-under team, who were undefeated through the entire summer, lost in the gold medal game against Elm Park. Their second place finish is all the more impressive since many players are young first-timers, with several years of 14-and-under waterpolo ahead of them. Kaitlyn Caron starred for ECC, battling hard in ‘the hole’ for much of the game. The rest of the ECC team consisted of Sarah McCormack, Amanda Beccherini, Samantha Mizrahi, Sam Hunt, Vanessa Morin, Amanda Gagne, Jackie Mantha, Madison Craney, and Tatum Cutfield.
Canadian Waterpolo Team member Michelle Caron, plus Jessica LaBarbera and Sara Reny joined the above group to form the 16-and-under team. The young squad put up a great fight against much larger girls, but lost to Glenmore (8-5) in the bronze medal game, finishing 4th for the season.
